Jadeveon Clowney Davarus (* 14. February 1993 in Rock Hill , South Carolina ) is an American American football poker players on the position of Outside linebackers and defensive ends . He is currently a free agent and has played for the Houston Texans and Seattle Seahawks in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected as the first player in the 2014 NFL Draft .
High school and college
In 2012, Jadeveon Clowney set the school record as a sophomore for sacks (13) and tackles behind the line of scrimmage (23.5). He played college football for the University of South Carolina and gained notoriety in the United States when he tackled the Michigan Wolverines running back so hard in the Outback Bowl in the fourth quarter that his helmet flew off.
NFL
Clowney was selected as the 1st player in the first round by the Houston Texans in the 2014 NFL Draft . In his first NFL game at the season opener against the Washington Redskins , he injured his knee and had to be replaced. A short time later he underwent an arthroscopy .
Consistently strong performances brought him nominations for the Pro Bowl in the years 2016-2018 and the election for the "AFC Defensive Play Of The Week" in week 4 of the 2018 season .
On August 31, 2019, Clowney was traded to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for linebacker Jacob Martin, Pass Rusher Barkevious Mingo and a third round pick in the 2020 draft after failing to agree on a new contract with the Texans.
