Gary Glick Gaylen (* 14. May 1930 in Grant , Nebraska ; † 11. February 2015 in Fort Collins , Colorado ) was an American American football poker players on the position of Safety and Kickers . He played 7 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) and American Football League (AFL).

Career

Gick was selected first overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1956 NFL Draft . He is the only defensive back ever to have been selected as the overall first. He previously played as a halfback , kicker, linebacker and quarterback at the Colorado A&M. He was used as backup safety and kicker, but was only able to convert nine out of 25 field goal attempts. He was released in mid- 1959 . As a result, he was committed by the Washington Redskins , where he also spent the following season. In 1961 he was signed by the Baltimore Colts . The 1962 season he was the coach of the Defense Backs of the Denver Broncos , before he ran for the last time in 1963 for the San Diego Chargers , with whom he also won the championship. He scored 14 interceptions in his career . In 1965 he was again a coach and remained so until the 1970s before he worked as an NFL scout.
