The 1956 NFL season was the 37th season of the National Football League . The New York Giants emerged as the winners of this season .

Since the previous TV partner DuMont Television Network had ceased broadcasting before the start of the season, a new broadcaster was found in CBS that broadcast the games nationwide.

In 1956, the National Football League Players Association , which still exists today, is founded. Starting this season, the New York Giants will play at Yankee Stadium .

The 1956 NFL Championship Game took place on December 30, 1956 at Yankee Stadium in New York City . The winners of the Eastern and Western divisions competed against each other. The New York Giants clearly defeated the Chicago Bears 47-7 .

Draft

The 1956 NFL Draft took place in the first three rounds at the Bellevue-Stratford Hotel in Philadelphia , and the remaining rounds at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles . First overall, Gary Glick was selected, who played as a quarterback in college . In the NFL, however, he played as a safety .
