The parish church of Kleinlobming stands on a slight slope on the eastern edge of the village of Kleinlobming in the Lobmingtal community in the Murtal district in Styria . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to St. Thomas the Apostle belongs to the Deanery of Knittelfeld in the Diocese of Graz-Seckau . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

A church was mentioned in a document in 1242. A parish was named in 1340 and 1771, in between the church was a branch of the Großlobming parish church .

The choir apse and the nave walls are Romanesque. After a fire in 1917, the church was rebuilt in 1919.

architecture

The church is partly surrounded by a walled cemetery.

The nave with chapels on the east side has barrel vaults. The semicircular choir apse has a Romanesque window walled on the outside in the choir closure. The west gallery is made of wood. The tower to the south of the nave is octagonal on the upper floors, the bell chamber is set back and wears an onion helmet. The sacristy is in the east.

Furnishing

The charming early baroque high altar from the third quarter of the 17th century with cartilage ornamentation was transferred here from Sauerbrunn Palace . It shows the altarpiece Maria Immaculata and carries the statues Joseph and Antonius and the top statue Thomas, all from the second quarter of the 18th century by the sculptor Balthasar Prandtstätter .

The left side altar bears a standing Mary with child around 1700. On the front arch are the statues Joachim and Anna around 1770/1780.

Three small glass hanging chandeliers are from the first half of the 19th century. J. Schaar 1875 names the Stations of the Cross pictures.

graveyard

The cemetery cross with a Sorrowful Mary is neo-Gothic.
