The church was first mentioned in a document in 1242, in 1360 and 1771 as a parish. In between it was a branch church of Großlobming. The choir and nave walls are Romanesque, the rest of the church was rebuilt in 1919 after a fire in 1917.

To the east of the nave of the church, which stands slightly on the slope, there are side chapels, the church is covered with barrel vaults everywhere, and a Romanesque window at the end of the choir. The tower, attached to the south of the nave, is octagonal on the upper floors with a recessed bell chamber with an onion helmet. The early baroque altar with cartilage ornament from the 3rd quarter of the 17th century comes from Sauerbrunn Castle . The image of Maria Immaculata and two statues of St. Joseph and St. Anthony date from the same time, the attached statue of St. Thomas from the 2nd quarter of the 18th century comes from Balthasar Prandtstätter . On the left side altar a standing Mary with child around 1700 and on the fron arch two statues of St. Joachim and Anna from the period 1770 to 1780. Three small glass pendant chandeliers from the 1st half of the 19th century on the ceiling. The Stations of the Cross pictures are from J. Schaar from 1875.
