The parish church Großlobming stands on the northern edge of the place Großlobming in the municipality Lobmingtal in the district Murtal in Styria . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to Saint Lambert of Liège belongs to the Deanery of Knittelfeld in the diocese of Graz-Seckau . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

A church was documented in 1066. In 1330 a parish was mentioned in a document. In 1949 the outside of the church was restored, the inside of the church was restored in 1972/1973.

architecture

The church is surrounded by a walled cemetery.

The high one-bay choir with a five-eighth closure was built around the middle of the 15th century. The choir has a ribbed vault with a diamond on circular services, the circular services in the yoke separation with dual services are more richly designed. There are statue consoles and round keystones, the keystone at the end of the choir shows the Lobming coats of arms with a crest. The two-lane tracery windows with a coffin cornice underneath have panes from 1896. The outer buttresses of the choir are braced, the choir roof is steep and higher than the roof of the nave.

Furnishing

The high altar with twisted columns and cartilage ornamentation was made around 1760. The high altar picture St. Johann Eisenschmidt calls Lampert pinxit 1850. The rococo tabernacle shows the relief of Christ in Emmaus.

On the choir consoles there are copies of Gothic statues as main works of the soft style from the beginning of the 15th century; the originals were transferred to the Austrian Gallery in Vienna, where the corresponding St. George.

The organ from the first quarter of the 19th century was transferred here from the Magdalenenkirche in Judenburg. Bells name 1677 and 1731.

There are remarkable tombstones inside the church: tombstone with coat of arms for Sigmund von Saurau died 1524, tombstone with relief kneeling family in front of crucifix with coat of arms and scrollwork for Alban von Saurau died 1579, tombstone with coat of arms for Franz von Saurau died 1590, tombstone with Reformation depiction of Christ on Mount Tabor and family kneeling in front of the crucified Christ at Christoph Praunfalck died in 1594, tombstone at Saurau died in 1637.

The crucifix in the churchyard was created by Balthasar Prandtstätter in the second quarter of the 18th century.
