Reggie Lee Nelson (* 21st September 1983 in Melbourne , Florida ) is a former American American football poker players in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the Jacksonville Jaguars , the Cincinnati Bengals and the Oakland Raiders as safety . He was called to the Pro Bowl twice .

college

Nelson attended the University of Florida and played college football with great success for their team, the Gators . He won various titles with his team and was repeatedly recognized for his achievements.

NFL

Jacksonville Jaguars

In the 2007 NFL Draft , he was selected in the 1st round as a total of 21st by the Jacksonville Jaguars . In his very first game, he was able to set seven tackles and score a sack , whereupon he ran the remaining 15 games of his rookie season as a starter . In 2008 he was out for the last three games due to a knee injury.

Cincinnati Bengals

Despite another good season, he was given up for cornerback David Jones and a draft pick to the Cincinnati Bengals. Right from the start he was able to establish himself here as the determining player personality of the secondary .

In 2012 he extended his contract with the Bengals despite an offer from the New York Jets . So far Nelson has been appointed to the Pro Bowl twice .

Oakland Raiders

On April 6, 2016, Nelson signed a two-year contract with the Oakland Raiders . In the first season for his new team, he was able to build on his usual good performance with 89 tackles and an interception, which he was unable to achieve in 2018, not least due to an injury.

Gunfight in Gainesville 2007

On September 30, 2007, two men were approaching a car waiting at a traffic light when one suddenly opened fire. One inmate was injured in the arm and another was shot in the head. The third was unharmed and initially identified the shooter as Aaron Hernandez , his companion as Reggie Nelson. He later withdrew his testimony, which is why there were no charges .
