Devin McCourty (* 13. August 1987 in Nyack , New York ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the Free Safety's . He plays for the New England Patriots in the National Football League (NFL). McCourty was selected by the Patriots in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft .

NFL

After a promising career in college football with the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers University , McCourty was drawn 27th in the 2010 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. As a cornerback , he played a very good debut season and was immediately elected to the Pro Bowl . In the following years, however, his performance stagnated, so that Head Coach Bill Belichick reluctantly tried him out in the position of Free Safety in 2012. In this role, he found his way back to his old form and established himself as chief of defense of the Patriots Secondary. McCourty was part of those teams that in 2014 the Super Bowl XLIX , and in 2016 the Super Bowl LI won, and was elected in the same year for the second time in the Pro Bowl.

Private life

McCourty's twin brother Jason McCourty was initially a player in the Tennessee Titans and is currently (as of January 2020) also under contract with the New England Patriots.
