Jerod Mayo (* 23. February 1986 in Hampton , Virginia ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the linebackers . He played eight years for the New England Patriots in the National Football League and won the Super Bowl XLIX with them .

Career

college

Mayo attended the University of Tennessee and scored 140 tackles in the 2007 season, the most in the Southeastern Conference .

NFL

In the 2008 NFL Draft , he was signed in the first round as the tenth player by the New England Patriots.

After winning the Super Bowl with the New England Patriots after the 2014 season, he ended his career a season later. He was twice champion of the American Football Conference and was twice elected to the Pro Bowl . In his first season he was named Defensive Rookie of the Year .
