Julian Francis Edelman (* 22. May 1986 in Redwood City , California ) is an American American football poker players on the position of wide receiver . He plays for the New England Patriots in the National Football League (NFL).
In high school and college he played the position of quarterback , with the Patriots he mainly plays as a wide receiver, kickoff and punt returner . He also has several missions as a defensive back . With the Patriots Edelman won in the 2014 season the Super Bowl XLIX , in the season 2016 the Super Bowl LI and in the season 2018 the Super Bowl LIII .
Career
High school and college
Edelman was born in Redwood City in San Mateo County, California, and grew up in the neighboring town of Woodside , where he also attended high school. There he achieved during his time as a starting quarterback 2,237 passports and 694 run - yards , and he threw 29 touchdowns and 13 could further achieved by runs. He attended the College of San Mateo for a year and then moved to Kent State University , where he studied business management . 2009–2012
In the 2009 NFL Draft , he was selected in the seventh round as the 232nd player by the New England Patriots . However, he was not intended as a quarterback, but as a wide receiver, although he had never played this position before and for which he was considered "too small and unconventional". But already in the second week of the 2009 season he was a starter because the actual wide receiver, Wes Welker , was injured. Since then, Edelman has played as a punt returner , kick returner and third wide receiver for the Patriots. He also built a reputation for versatility when he played as a defensive back for several games during a wave of injuries in the Patriots defense .
2013
After Edelman had slowly established itself, he rose to New England's favorite passport recipient (English go-to receiver ) in 2013 . After Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd, who were seeded in front of him , left the Patriots, new purchase Danny Amendola was often injured and the two tight ends Rob Gronkowski (broken arm and cruciate ligament) and Aaron Hernandez (murder charge) were out, Edelman caught 105 passes, including six touchdowns, and gained 1,056 yards of space.

2015
The 2015 season began promisingly for Edelman and the Patriots, Edelman was able to catch 11 passes for 97 yards of space in the first two games against the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills , including 2 touchdowns against the Bills. In the ninth week of the season, Edelman suffered a metatarsal fracture in his left foot in the game against the New York Giants and had to undergo surgery the next day. This was the regular season for Edelman, he had caught 62 passes for 692 yards and seven touchdowns in the first nine games of the season. Thanks to a trouble-free recovery, Edelman was able to play again in the play-offs and helped with his 10 passes caught for 100 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs that the Patriots could move into the AFC Championship Game for the fifth time in a row .
2016
The 2016 season went very well for Edelman. With 1,106 yards of space gain, he set a personal record, scored three touchdowns and helped the Patriots take first place on the AFC seeding list with 14-2 wins. With New England he reached the Super Bowl LI against the Atlanta Falcons , where Edelman gained 87 yards of space and shortly before the end at 20:28 caught a deflected throw despite cover by three Atlanta defenders millimeters over the sward and an important 23- Yards catch landed. Private life
Edelman has a sister and an older brother. Edelman, whose father is Jewish, identifies himself as a member of this religion and celebrates Hanukkah .

In 2016 Edelman brought out a children's book called "Flying High" in which a squirrel named Julian wants to play football with an eagle , a bear and a buffalo , but is laughed at as too weak. Only after Julian follows the advice of the goat Tom and the owl Bill to work hard on himself does he succeed. The proceeds from the sale were used for charitable purposes.
