NFL
2012
Nick Foles was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2012 third round of the NFL Draft . He signed a four-year contract and became the backup quarterback for Michael Vick . He made his debut on November 11, 2012 in the tenth week against the Dallas Cowboys after Vick had to go out with a concussion. He threw a touchdown and an interception . Shortly before the end of the game he lost the ball at 23:31 after a sack , the subsequent touchdown sealed the defeat of the Eagles. Nevertheless, and although the subsequent game with Nick Foles was lost, head coach Andy Reid stuck to Foles and announced that Foles would remain the starting quarterback for the rest of the season . On December 23, 2012, Foles broke his hand in the game against the Washington Redskins , so he could not play the season finale against the New York Giants . The Eagles missed the play-offs this season.
2013
During the preparations for the 2013 season , the Eagles' new head coach, Chip Kelly , Vick and Foles announced they would fight for the position of the starting quarterback. Rookie Matt Barkley was hired as a backup. In the end, Vick prevailed and played the first games from the start. In early October, Vick suffered a muscle injury in the game against the New York Giants and was out for the rest of the game. Foles threw 16 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns as a substitute , the Eagles won 36:21. In the following game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers he threw 22 passes for 296 yards and three touchdowns, in addition, he ran a touchdown himself. He was then named NFC Offensive Player of the Week . In the following week against the Dallas Cowboys he came to only 80 yards of space and remained without a touchdown before he was taken out of the game due to injury in the final quarter. Nick Foles started again in week nine after Vick's injury returned. Against the Oakland Raiders he threw, as the youngest player in the history of the NFL, seven touchdowns and thus equalized the record. He also threw no interception and achieved a perfect quarterback rating of 158.3 - this has only happened for the 42nd time since 1960. This earned him the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award for the second time . Due to the strong performances, the Eagles also started the upcoming games with Foles.
In the game of the week ten against the Green Bay Packers he again achieved a high quarterback rating of 149.3, he threw twelve passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns. With a rating of 149.3, Foles became the first quarterback to score above 149 in two consecutive weeks. In week eleven against the Washington Redskins on November 17, 2013 (24:16) Foles threw 298 yards, no touchdown and no interception; a touchdown he ran himself. On December 1, 2013 against the Arizona Cardinals (24:21) Foles reached 237 yards with three touchdowns. In total, Foles threw 27 touchdown passes in two interceptions in the season and reached with a quarterback rating of 119.2 the highest value of all quarterbacks in the 2013 season and the third highest value in the history of the NFL. The ratio of 27 touchdowns to two interceptions meant a record for a regular season . For the first time since 2010, the Eagles reached the play-offs, in which they lost to the New Orleans Saints 24:26. In his postseason debut, Foles threw 195 yards, two touchdowns and no interception, and achieved a quarterback rating of 105.0. Foles was first elected to the Pro Bowl .
2014
In the 2014 season , Foles was starting quarterback until matchday 9, but then injured himself and suffered a broken collarbone . He was placed on the Injured Reserve List and was out the rest of the season.
2015
Nick Foles moved to the St. Louis Rams in exchange for their previous quarterback, Sam Bradford . With the Rams, Foles played his worst NFL season to date. He came in eleven games to only seven touchdowns with ten interceptions and a quarterback rating of only 69.0. Before the 2016 season , he was released by the Rams at his own request.
2016
After his release from the Los Angeles Rams, Foles was hired by the Kansas City Chiefs . For the Chiefs, Foles took on the role of the backup quarterback behind Alex Smith . In weeks eight and nine, Foles came on due to a minor injury to Smith. Nick Foles scored three touchdowns and threw no interception. From week ten, the recovered Smith replaced him.
2017
After being fired by the Kansas City Chiefs , Foles signed a two-year contract with his first team, the Philadelphia Eagles , with salaries up to $ 11 million and a $ 7 million guarantee.
After the cruciate ligament rupture of starting quarterback Carson Wentz on the 14th day of the regular season , Foles took over the Eagles as starting player and was allowed to play for the Eagles in the following play-offs .
Super Bowl LII
Foles was starting quarterback for the Eagles in all three play-off games of the season and reached 115.7 points in the quarterback rating. Overall, he came in the play-off games and the Super Bowl with an average of 113.2 points on the best rating of a quarterback in the NFL postseason to date.
The Eagles won the Super Bowl LII with 41:33 against the New England Patriots and Foles was instrumental in the victory with a very good performance that made him the Super Bowl MVP . He threw in the Super Bowl 28 passes in 43 attempts for 373 yards and 3 touchdowns , which earned him a passer rating of 106.1 points. In addition, he caught a touchdown himself in a trick play (the so-called Philly Special ) shortly before the opponent's end zone as the first quarterback in the history of the Super Bowl.
2018
In the 2018 season, Foles was again scheduled as a backup behind Carson Wentz, who was only fully recovered from his cruciate ligament rupture in week 3. So in the first two games of the season, Foles took his place and showed no consistent performance with one win and one loss. After Wentz failed again from the 15th matchday because of a back injury, Foles was starting quarterback for the rest of the season. Under Foles, the Eagles have won the last three games.
In the last game of the regular season against the Washington Redskins , Foles made 25 passes in a row to their destination, leveling with the record of Philip Rivers and Ryan Tannehill . The Eagles won the game 24-0 and were able to move into the play-offs thanks to a simultaneous defeat of the Minnesota Vikings .
In the Wild Card Game, Foles competed with the Eagles against the Chicago Bears . Foles threw two touchdowns and two interceptions at 266 yards in a narrow 16:15 win. In the Divisional Round against the New Orleans Saints Foles made 18 of 31 passes for 201 yards, the Eagles lost the game 14:20.
2019
On March 11, 2019, Foles agreed on a four-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars . In his first game for the Jaguars, he injured himself in the first quarter. After the game, he was diagnosed with a broken collarbone that leaves Foles indefinitely. On November 5, 2019, the Jaguars announced that Foles will return in week 11 of the season, resuming the role of starter after Backup Gardner Minshew had previously shown strong performances. After a weak first half against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 13, in which Foles caused three turnovers , he was substituted for Minshew, who was subsequently named as the starter for the next game.
2020
On March 18, 2020, the Jaguars gave Foles to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a four-round pick .
