David Lane Johnson (* 8. May 1990 in Groveton , Texas ) is an American American football poker players in the National Football League (NFL). He plays for the Philadelphia Eagles as an offensive tackle . With this team he was able to win the Super Bowl LII .

college

Johnson, who also showed great talent as a track and field athlete during high school , first attended Kilgore College and played for their team, the Rangers, as both quarterback and tight end college football . After a year he moved to the University of Oklahoma and had to pause the restrictive transfer regulations of the NCAA for a season. Then he ran for their team, the Sooners . First, Johnson was called up as a tight end and a defensive end , but was eventually converted into an offensive tackle .

NFL

In the 2013 NFL Draft , he was selected in the first round as fourth overall by the Philadelphia Eagles and received a four-year contract worth $ 19.8 million . Johnson was able to convince with his performances in preparation and subsequently played all 16 games as a starting right tackle in his rookie season . In 2014 he was banned for the first four games after a positive doping test . After that he played again at the usual high level, mostly on the right side, occasionally also on the left, when the injured Jason Peters had to be replaced. In 2016 the Eagles presented him with a new contract: 63 million US dollars, 35.5 of which guaranteed, for a further six years. Johnson became the highest-paid right tackle in the league. However, the 2016 season was overshadowed by another doping ban. Johnson was forced to pause ten games after various attempts to fend off the start ban had failed.
