Richard Peter "Rick" Lovato (born September 9, 1992 in Neptune Township , New Jersey ) is an American football player on the position of long snappers . He currently plays for the Philadelphia Eagles in the National Football League (NFL).

Early years

Lovato attended high school in Middletown Township , New Jersey . He later went to Old Dominion University .

NFL

Chicago Bears

After he was not included in the 2015 NFL Draft , he signed a contract with the Chicago Bears on May 3, 2015 . He was released on August 30, 2015.

Green Bay Packers

On December 22, 2015, he signed a contract with the Green Bay Packers after their actual long snapper Brett Goode suffered a season-ending knee injury. On December 27, 2015, he played his first NFL season game. He was released on September 3, 2016.

Washington Redskins

On November 19, he signed a contract with the Washington Redskins after their long snapper Nick Sundberg was injured. On November 29, 2016, he was released again.

Philadelphia Eagles

On December 12, 2016, Lovato signed a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles . The real long snapper Jon Dorenbos previously suffered a fractured wrist. For the 2017 season , the Eagles traded Dorenbos to the New Orleans Saints and made Lovato their long snapper on the team. He reached the Super Bowl LII with the Philadelphia Eagles , which was won 41:31 against the New England Patriots .
