Jonathan Paul Dorenbos (* 21st July 1980 in Humble , Texas ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of Long Snappers . He was most recently with the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League (NFL) under contract. Previously, he played for the Buffalo Bills , the Tennessee Titans and eleven seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles , where he holds numerous franchise records.

In the USA he achieved fame far beyond football through his appearances as a magician .

Youth and college

Dorenbos spent some time in the orphanage after his father murdered his mother. At that time he began to practice sorcery . He was later adopted by his aunt and uncle.

Dorenbos, who was also a talented and successful basketball , baseball and hockey player in his youth , first attended Golden West College , where he was called up as both linebacker and fullback , but soon moved to the University of Texas at El Paso and played for their team, the Miners, as Long Snapper College Football .

NFL

Buffalo Bills

Dorenbos was not taken into account in the 2003 NFL Draft , but was then signed as a free agent by the Buffalo Bills . In his rookie season he was used in all 16 games. His second season ended after 13 games with a knee injury. In 2005 he didn't make it to the team and was fired just before the start of the regular season.

Tennessee Titans

At the end of October, Dorenbos was signed by the Tennessee Titans and played for the team in the last nine games of the season. In March he was released again, in October 2006 again committed to a game at short notice before he finally left the team.

Philadelphia Eagles

After Mike Bartrum had to end his career due to injury, Dorenbos moved to the Philadelphia Eagles. He stayed with this franchise for eleven years and played 162 games in a row. No other player has played for the Eagles more often. During this time he was appointed to the Pro Bowl twice .

New Orleans Saints

While his contract was extended to 2019 by the Eagles in November 2016, Dorenbos switched to the New Orleans Saints in August 2017 in exchange for a seven-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft. He was released by the Saints on September 8, 2017.

On September 8th, an aortic aneurysm was discovered in Dorenbos , which is why he has to undergo heart surgery. Due to his illness, Dorenbos will no longer be able to play professional football. Even before the trade was officially canceled, the Eagles waived the additional draft pick.

After the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl LII , Dorenbos announced that his former team would give him a Super Bowl ring because of his merits.

Even as a student, Dorenbos performed regularly as a magician, even in Las Vegas , where he amazed with his card tricks . He achieved real fame by participating in the eleventh season of the popular talent show America's Got Talent , where he made it to the finals.
