Richard Lamar Dent (* 13. December 1960 in Atlanta , Georgia ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the defensive ends . He played 15 years in the National Football League (NFL) and won the Super Bowl ( Super Bowl XX and Super Bowl XXIX ) with the Chicago Bears , for whom he played twelve years, and the San Francisco 49ers . He was elected Super Bowl MVP for his performance in Super Bowl XX . In 2011 he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame .

Richard Dent was born on December 13, 1960 in Atlanta, Georgia, the sixth of nine children to printer Horace Dent and his wife Mary, who ran a catering service. He has three children and founded a foundation, the “Make A Dent Foundation”, which aims to improve children's living conditions.
college
After high school , Richard Dent played college football for Tennessee State University from 1979 to 1982 . He scored 158 tackles and 39 sacks for the Tigers , who have not given away his jersey number 95 to other players since 2013.
NFL
Chicago Bears
Richard Dent was selected in the 1983 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears only in the 8th round as 203rd player, although he had been classified by a scout of the Bears in the second round.
Dent scored three sacks in his first season and was featured in every game, three of which he played from the start. In his second season he scored 17.5 sacks, was in the starting line-up for the last ten games of the season and was elected to his first Pro Bowl . In the 1985 season he played every game from the start, scoring 17 sacks and the Bears won 15 games in the regular season behind their dominant defense from defensive coordinator Buddy Ryan , with only one loss. In the play-offs they beat the New York Giants 21-0 and the Los Angeles Rams 24-0 in the NFC Championship Game and made it to the Super Bowl . In the two play-off games he scored 9 tackles and 4.5 sacks and forced 2 fumbles . Head Coach Mike Ditka and the Bears won the subsequent Super Bowl XX with 46:10 against the New England Patriots . For his Super Bowl performance - scoring three tackles, 1.5 sacks, and forcing two fumbles - Dent was named the Super Bowl MVP .
Dent played with the Bears until 1993, scoring at least 8.5 sacks each season. After the 1993 season he was elected to the Pro Bowl for the fourth and final time.
San Francisco 49ers
For the 1994 season, Dent moved to the San Francisco 49ers . With the 49ers he won his second Super Bowl ( Super Bowl XXIX ), but was only used in the first two games of the season and then fell out injured for the rest of the season.
Chicago Bears
For the 1995 season, Dent moved back to the Chicago Bears, but this time too, due to an injury, only made three missions - one of them from the start. In his twelve seasons for the Chicago Bears, Dent scored 641 tackles, 124.5 sacks, eight interceptions , and 34 forced and 13 captured fumbles.
Indianapolis Colts
Just one season later, Dent played a season for the Indianapolis Colts . He was used in all 16 games of the regular season, scored 6.5 sacks and the only safety of his career.
Philadelphia Eagles
After only a year with the Colts, Dent played his final season in the NFL in 1997 for the Philadelphia Eagles . At the age of 37, he scored another 4.5 sacks in 15 games and forced a fumble.
Honors and records
Richard Dent was elected to the Pro Bowl four times and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011. He scored 671 tackles, 137.5 sacks, 8 interceptions, and 37 forced and 13 captured fumbles during his NFL career. His 137.5 sacks were the third highest in NFL history at the time of his retirement, behind Bruce Smith (200) and Reggie White (198). His jersey number 59 is no longer awarded at Tennessee State University.
