Brian Urlacher (* 25. May 1978 in Pasco , Washington ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the middle linebackers . He played for the Chicago Bears in the National Football League (NFL).
Life
Urlacher is the son of Brad and Lavoyda Urlacher. His parents separated in the late 1980s and Lavoyda took custody of Brian and his siblings. She moved with them to Lovington, New Mexico , where Urlacher grew up in poor conditions. He trained a lot and developed a keen interest in American football . He led the Lovington High School Wild Cats to an undefeated season (14-0 wins).
Urlacher attended the University of New Mexico , where he played college football in the safety position. In 2000 he was selected by the Chicago Bears in the NFL Draft . In his rookie season, he received the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award .
Urlacher's brother Casey moved to Illinois with him after Brian's draft through the Bears and played for Lake Forest College near Chicago . He never made the leap into the NFL and later played in the Arena Football League , including for the Chicago Rush .
honors and awards
In the 2005 season, Urlacher was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year . He was called to the Pro Bowl eight times . In 2017 Urlacher was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame . In 2018 he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame .
Trivia
Urlacher had a brief guest appearance on Jim Belushi's sitcom Jim Again and again .
