Troy Polamalu Aumua (* 19th April 1981 in Garden Grove , California as Troy Benjamin Aumua ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the Strong Safety . He played twelve years for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League (NFL). With the Steelers, he won Super Bowl XL and Super Bowl XLIII . In 2020 Polamalu was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame .

Career

Polamalu was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2003 first round of the NFL Draft . The Steelers were originally only allowed to select their first player in 27th place. To secure the rights to Polamalu, they gave their first round suffrage along with their 92nd and 200th pick to the Kansas City Chiefs and received their voting rights in 16th place in exchange. At the Steelers he was nominated for the Pro Bowl every year from 2004 to 2008 .

On February 5, 2006, he won with the Pittsburgh Steelers the Super Bowl XL against the Seattle Seahawks and on February 1, 2009 he won his second Super Bowl ( Super Bowl XLIII ), also with the Steelers, against the Arizona Cardinals .

On January 31, 2011, he was named Defensive Player of the Year . In the election he was able to prevail against the linebacker of the Green Bay Packers , Clay Matthews , among others .

On April 10, 2015, Polamalu announced his resignation.

On February 1, 2020, Polamalu was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame , to which he will be officially inducted on August 8, 2020.
