Kevin Williams (* 16th August 1980 in Arkadelphia , Arkansas ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the defensive tackles . He last played for the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League (NFL) and formed together with Pat Williams from 2005 to 2010 the so-called "Williams Wall" ( Eng. "Williams Wall") at the Minnesota Vikings .

Career

College and draft

Williams attended Oklahoma State University , in whose college team, the Oklahoma State Cowboys , he was an integral part of the defense . In the Cowboys he played a total of 42 games and came up with 160 tackles and 18.5 sacks . In 2002, the Oklahoma State Cowboys achieved victory in the Houston Bowl with him as a defensive tackle , their only second participation in a final. He came in 2003 in the NFL Draft , where the Minnesota Vikings signed him in the first round as the ninth player.

Kevin Williams underlined his strong college career right in his first professional season. He got 10.5 sacks in the season and played all games from the start, four of them away from his actual position as a nose tackle . In the last game of the season against the Arizona Cardinals alone , he scored five sacks and one interception , which earned him the NFC Defensive Rookie of the Month award. After he increased his record again in 2004 with 11.5 sacks, his performance declined in the following two seasons.

In December 2006 Williams extended his existing contract with the Vikings for another seven years. In the following 2007 season he got two touchdowns after interceptions.

In 2008 traces of diuretic were found in his blood. Since this could be an indication of the use of steroids , he was suspended for four games. In the 2009 season Kevin Williams reached the NFC Championship Game with the Minnesota Vikings , where they failed with 28:31 against the New Orleans Saints to make it into the Super Bowl XLIV .

Seattle Seahawks

After becoming a free agent after the 2013 season , he signed a one-year contract with the reigning Super Bowl winner, the Seattle Seahawks, in June 2014 . He was used regularly, including in Super Bowl XLIX , in which the Seahawks but had to admit defeat to the New England Patriots .

New Orleans Saints

On June 12, 2015, he signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints .

End of career

On July 27th, he signed a "one-day contract" with the Vikings to officially end his career there.
