NFL

Pat Williams joined the NFL Draft in 1997 , but was not elected by any team. The Buffalo Bills only hired him as a free agent afterwards . In his debut year he only came across a single mission. The next few years Williams fought his place in the team, but it took another three years before he could earn a regular place with the Bills. He scored his first touchdown in 2004 after an interception against the Miami Dolphins . The Buffalo Bills did not renew his contract, which expired after this season.

Before the 2005 season he moved, again as a free agent, to the Minnesota Vikings . After advice from the then defensive coach of the Vikings, Mike Tomlin , Williams lost around seven kilograms. With Kevin Williams, also defensive tackle, he formed the strongest Vikings defense in years. Then in 2006 followed the first choice in the Pro Bowl , which he reached in the two following seasons.

At the Vikings he and Kevin Williams formed the so-called "Williams Wall" ( Eng. "Williams Wall").

He and his teammate Kevin Williams have been suspended from participation by the NFL due to their proven use of diuretics , a component of steroids . Only after the Vikings stood up for the two players was the penalty withdrawn. In 2009 , Pat Williams made 44 tackles and two sacks .

In 2011 Williams announced that it would no longer renew the contract with the Vikings. However, Williams was no longer with any other club. In 2013 he signed a one-day contract with Minnesota to end his career as a Vikings player.
