Steve Hutchinson (born November 1, 1977 in Fort Lauderdale , Florida ) is an American former American football player. He played on the offensive guard position with the Seattle Seahawks , Minnesota Vikings and Tennessee Titans in the National Football League (NFL).

Career

College career

Hutchinson played in the four years at the University of Michigan always in the starting line-up, has received several awards and was an Outland Trophy finalist. He was awarded the Jim Parker Trophy in 2000 , an award for the most outstanding college lineman.

NFL career

Steve Hutchinson was signed by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2001 first round of the NFL Draft . With the Seahawks he fought his way into the starting lineup. Together with Walter Jones , he was considered the best offensive line duo in the NFL. In 2005 he became a "free agent".

The Minnesota Vikings signed Hutchinson in 2006 to reinforce their offensive line . Hutchinson continued to deliver strong performances and played in all games for the Vikings in the starting lineup until 2009. He participated in the Pro Bowl continuously from 2003 to 2009 and was named to the National Football League 2000s All-Decade Team in 2010 .

On March 15, 2012, Hutchinson signed a three-year contract with the Tennessee Titans . With his commitment, the Titans tried to convince Peyton Manning to move to Tennessee. However, he ultimately decided on the Denver Broncos .

On March 11, 2013, Hutchinson announced his retirement.
