Hines Ward Edward Jr. (* 8. March 1976 in Seoul , South Korea ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of wide receiver . He last played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League (NFL).

Hines Ward attended the University of Georgia and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1998 . Ward won Super Bowl XL with the Steelers on February 5, 2006 and was also named Super Bowl MVP in that game . In 2006 he received honorary citizenship of Seoul.

On February 1, 2009, he won with the Pittsburgh Steelers to Super Bowl XLIII against the Arizona Cardinals .

His father is African American and his mother is Korean. For some time now he has been campaigning for children of mixed ethnic origin in South Korea. Such people are exposed to discrimination in South Korea if they do not have pure "Korean blood" in them.

In May 2011 Ward won the American TV show " Dancing with the Stars " together with professional dancer Kym Johnson .

On January 1, 2012, Ward caught his 1,000th passport. This was only achieved seven players before him in the history of the NFL .

On February 29, 2012, Ward was sacked by the Pittsburgh Steelers. On March 20, 2012, Ward announced his retirement from the NFL. Before that, he was in contact with various other teams as a free agent, but ultimately decided to end his career as a steeler.

In 2012 he had a cameo in the film The Dark Knight Rises and in 2013 as Walker in the AMC series The Walking Dead (episode: The Suicide King).
