Professional career

In his rookie year, Foote played 14 games and reached 44 tackles. In his second year he played a bigger role in the special teams than in the previous year, but not in his regular position of linebacker. He only managed six tackles that season. In his third year he returned to the linebacker position, making 69 tackles and three quarterback sacks. In the 2005 season , the Steelers, led by the young quarterback Ben Roethlisberger , played strong and moved into the NFL play-offs with a score of 11: 5 . Foote played well and his good performances had helped the Steelers win the Super Bowl that year . In the AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos he managed an important interception . He intercepted the pass of Denver's quarterback Jake Plummer right on the line of scrimmage and the game tipped in favor of the Steelers, who got possession of the ball through this interception and the then strong Broncos got out of step. The Steelers won the game in the end with 34:17 and thus moved into the Super Bowl XL . Footes Interception is seen as a key move that brought the game the hitherto unexpected turnaround. In the following season, Foote improved again and had set a new personal record with four sacks. He also got 90 tackles.

In the 2008 season Foote reached his second final with the Steelers, the Super Bowl XLIII , which he was able to win with the Steelers against the Arizona Cardinals with 27:23. During the season he got 81 tackles and three sacks, and he also caught an interception. Although he played well with the Steelers, he got fewer and fewer game shares as the Steelers bet on the 2007 drafted Lawrence Timmons .

He left the Steelers on May 4, 2009 and signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Lions two days later on May 6, 2009 . So Foote is playing for the Lions for the first time in his native Detroit .

On March 15, 2010, Foote signed a three-year contract with his former team, the Steelers.

On May 6, 2014, Foote signed with the Arizona Cardinals.
