Larry Csonka (born December 25, 1946 in Stow , Ohio ) is a retired American football player . He went to the Pro Football Hall of Fame of the National Football League as a fullback of the Miami Dolphins in August 1987 .

With a height of 190 cm and a weight between 105 and 115 kg he reached the Super Bowl three times in a row from 1971 to 1973 with the Miami Dolphins . After losing to the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl VI, the Dolphins were the only team to manage a “ perfect season ” in 1972 with 17 wins and a subsequent Super Bowl VII success against the Washington Redskins . In Super Bowl VIII, which the Miami Dolphins also won, Larry Csonka was voted Most Valuable Player .

As No. 1 draft pick of the Miami Dolphins from 1968 reached Larry Csonka in the course of his career (Miami Dolphins 1968-74 & 1979, New York Giants 1976-1978) in 1891 runs 8081 yards run (with only 21 ball losses), 106 catches and 68 touchdowns. In the years 1970-1974 Csonka was nominated five times in a row for the Pro Bowl . In 1979 he was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year . His number 39 is no longer given to other players by the Miami Dolphins.
