Curtis Wise Johnson (* 22. June 1948 in Toledo , Ohio ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the cornerbacks . He played nine seasons with the Miami Dolphins in the National Football League (NFL).

Career

Fluellen played college football at the University of Toledo for the Toledo Rockets from 1967 to 1969 . He was voted first-team All-MAC twice and in his final season helped the Rockets achieve the first of three consecutive Perfect Seasons . He was also elected First-Team All-American by the Newspaper Enterprise Association (NEA) . For the Rockets' 100th anniversary in 2017, Cole was voted 9th on the All-Century Team.

In the 1970 NFL Draft , Johnson was selected in the fourth round as the 81st overall player by the Miami Dolphins . In his rookie season, he played all 14 games from the start on the position of the left cornerback. He scored three interceptions and captured four fumble. He contributed to the fact that the Dolphins reached the playoffs for the first time. In 1971 he moved to the right side, on which he appeared again in every game, ten times from the start. He scored two passes this season and was also able to block a field goal . In the playoffs Johnson was able to achieve an interception in the Divisional Playoffs in the 27:24 OT win against the Kansas City Chiefs . Johnson reached the Super Bowl for the first time with the Dolphins this season , but they lost. In 1972 he was able to start in 13 of 14 games. In the last four games of the regular season, he was able to intercept three passes. In addition, he was able to block three punts in the season. The Dolphins won Super Bowl VII that season , setting up the first Perfect Season in NFL history. In 1973 he played in all the games again and only failed to start one of them. He won Super Bowl VIII with the Dolphins 24-7 , with Johnson catching an interception. In 1974 he played thirteen games, twelve of them from the start. The following season he started again in all 14 games and was able to catch four interceptions, three of them in one game. The Dolphins missed the playoffs for the first time since 1970 despite a 10-4 record. In 1976 Johnson started nine of his thirteen games. He could only catch one interception. In 1977 he started every game for the Dolphins. He was able to repeat his career record with four interceptions. In his last season he played in fifteen games, twelve of them from the start. He was able to intercept three passes and helped the Dolphins back into the playoffs.

In 1984 Johnson became a firefighter in Toledo. His son died in a fire in January 2011.
