Wistedt is located northwest of the Lüneburg Heath Nature Park . The municipality belongs to the Tostedt joint municipality , which has its administrative seat in the municipality of Tostedt .

Regular public events
- The Wistedter flea market , since 1979 always on the second Sunday in June, is one of the most popular flea markets in the area. Around 500 private sellers offer their goods in the idyllic village.
Culture and sights
Geographically, Wistedt represents the watershed between the Elbe and Weser. The Wümme (to the Weser ) and Oste (to the Elbe ) heathland streams approach each other within the municipality up to approx. 300 m and then flow in other directions. Relative to the municipality, Wistedt has one of the highest proportions of designated nature reserves in Lower Saxony: Kauers Wittmoor and Großes Moor und Aueniederung near Wistedt .
Walter Bostelmann and Grethe Matthies are honorary citizens of Wistedt. Both have created an extensive chronicle of Wistedt. In addition, Bostelmann has written four other treatises - partly in Wister Platt - on the citizens of Wistedt and their customs. Its rock collections from the district are impressive.

education
Wistedt has a kindergarten, a primary school and the Elias school. By adding an extension to the kindergarten, it is now also possible to set up a crèche. This will open its doors in April 2015.
