Geographical location

Gödenstorf is located on the eastern edge of the Lüneburg Heath nature reserve . The community belongs to the joint municipality of Salzhausen , which has its administrative seat in the municipality of Salzhausen .

history

Gödenstorf was first mentioned in 1289 as Godingstorpe . To the south of the village lies the Iron Age shaft furnace of Gödenstorf .

Lübberstedt was first mentioned in a document in 1252 as Lubberstede.

Incorporations

On July 1, 1972, the neighboring community of Lübberstedt was incorporated.

mayor

In the local elections in 2016, Malene Schröder was elected to the position of honorary mayor. She replaces her predecessor Eckhard Schröder after a term of 25 years.

Culture and sights

fire Department

The local volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1921 and merged with the fire brigade in the neighboring village of Oelstorf to form the "Freiwilligen Feuerwehr Gödenstorf-Oelstorf" in 1934. It consists of around 40 active members and many supporters who are organized in a registered support association. In addition, this fire brigade is responsible for many local events during the year, such as the public viewing for soccer World Cup games, barbecues or the lantern parade.

Faslam

The Faslamsclub Gödenstorf has existed since 1953. Over the years, the neighboring towns of Oelstorf and Lübberstedt have joined the club. The Faslamsfest is usually celebrated on the 1st weekend in January in Lübberstedt at the Schüttenhof.

Fan clubs

The local HSV Fan Club was founded on March 28, 1993 under the name "Richard Golz Fan Club". After goalkeeping legend Richard Golz left HSV in 1998, the fan club was renamed “HSV Fan Club Gödenstorf-Garlstorf”. The fan club organizes regular trips to HSV's home and away games in its own bus.

Sports

The soccer club "FC Hohe Heide" has existed since 1975 and is purely a leisure club. The first chairman and co-founder of the association has been Klaus Voigts since 1975.

traffic

It is about three kilometers to the A 7 motorway in the west of the municipality. In addition, Gödenstorf is on the Winsen – Hützel railway line , which is mainly used for freight traffic.
