Appel is part of the Hollenstedt municipality in the Harburg district in Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

Geographical location
Appel lies between the Este , a left tributary of the Elbe and the Harburg mountains . The place is known for its hiking trails in a charming landscape on the fish pond chain to Appelbeck.

history
The Harburg dukes Christoph , Otto III. and Wilhelm August built the Appelbecker mill on the Este in 1622 as a paper mill. It was later converted into a sawmill. Today Appelbeck am See is a destination in the Rosengarten Regional Park .
