About this picture

The municipality of Tespe is located in the northeast of the Harburg district and belongs to the Elbmarsch municipality in Lower Saxony .

geography

location

The municipality of Tespe is located in the eastern part of the Elbmarsch municipality . The municipality of Marschacht borders in the west and the Elbe in the north , and the Lüneburg district to the east and south .

Community structure

Tespe consists of the villages Tespe, Bütlingen and Avendorf .

District Tespe

The district of Tespe is located south of the Elbe. The village has its own sport shipping port. Its neighboring villages are Bütlingen in the south, Avendorf in the east and Obermarschacht in the west. Tespe is the youngest of these villages, around 300 years old. There are many clubs in the village, such as B. the TSV Tespe, which works together with the SG Elbmarsch, or the shooting club Tespe. Another important organization is the Tespe volunteer fire brigade , the oldest fire brigade in the Harburg district , which has existed since 1854.

history

The village of Tespe is first mentioned in the Ratzeburg tithe register from 1230 as Toschope . Research assumes that Tespe was founded by Saxon settlers around the year 1000. The place name is based on the old Saxon basic word Hop "Haufe" and, like Wiershop, describes the place where something comes together. Like the village of Avendorf, the village was relocated to the Elbmarsch opposite , before the middle of the 14th century . The Tesperhude customs office was later built on the old parcel of the former village.

Since 1986 there has been an above-average number of children in Tespe with leukemia . These diseases are brought up in the press and also by some expert scientists in connection with the Krümmel nuclear power plant and the GKSS research center on the opposite side of the Elbe .

Incorporations

The community was created in its current form through the regional reform of July 1, 1972. Before that, the communities Tespe, Avendorf and Bütlingen were independent and belonged to the district of Lüneburg .
