geography
In the north of the joint municipality, the villages from Drage to Avendorf stretch along the Elbe dike. The elongated street villages flow into one another. Culture and sights
Tourism is becoming more and more important for the Elbmarsch municipality. The many campsites offer all kinds of relaxation in a beautiful landscape with many leisure activities for both short and long-term vacations. The diverse offer in this region ranges from hiking tours to horse riding and tennis to mini golf and fishing.
From a cultural point of view , the sculpture park in Marschacht, the open-air art exhibition Marschkunst -kunstmarsch, which takes place during the summer months, as well as the regular farmers' market should be mentioned.
The Elbmarsch joint community is also involved in the Elbe river valley cooperation. The task of this voluntary cooperation is to promote the Elbe recreation area.
Economy and Infrastructure
The local banks, doctors, pharmacies and grocery stores as well as the newly created weekly market, together with the wide range of medium-sized companies, ensure a complete basic supply for the entire community. The smaller industrial areas in the member communities offer the resident companies ideal space due to their favorable location. There is a cross-community industrial area (Eichholz industrial park) which, with its direct proximity to the B 404, is also intended to attract larger companies.
Public facilities
The Marschacht police station and ten volunteer fire brigades with around 400 active members ensure the safety of the residents . In addition to their normal tasks, they also - like many of the more than 40 local associations - offer a variety of activities that contribute to the vitalization of the village community. In Marschacht there is the Deichhaus, an open meeting place for young people. Since 2003, open youth work has become more and more established in the Harburg district.
education
There are a total of six kindergartens as well as a total of five elementary schools and one secondary high school with a grammar school up to the tenth grade (Ernst-Reinstorf-Schule). Pupils who want to attend a grammar school upper level have to start their way to the grammar school in Winsen after the tenth grade . The educational offer is rounded off by the Elbmarsch library in the Marschacht primary school.
Sports
Football
showpiece in sport is the men's team of Eintracht Elbmarsch. The club was founded in 1995 from the soccer departments of TuS Schwinde, MTV Jahn Obermarschacht and TSV Tespe and experienced its greatest success on June 16, 2012, when they beat FC Worpswede 1-0 in the relegation game and thus entered the national soccer league rise. After three years in the sixth highest German division, Eintracht rose in 2015 to the district league. A year later, the Eintracht Elbmarsch women's team also achieved promotion to the state league with a 2-1 win in the relegation game against TuS Fleestedt. So she is currently the highest-playing Eintracht team.
Others
There is a suspicion that the Elbmarsch is radioactively contaminated (to an extent that has not yet been clarified). Some scientists claim to have found so-called Pac beads in the area , which could play a role in the Elbmarsch leukemia cluster , a local cluster of leukemia cases. Other reviewers deny this thesis and state that there are no Pac beads in the soil of the area. If the suspicion of contamination is confirmed, the Krümmel nuclear power plant and the GKSS research center , which are within sight on the other bank of the Elbe, could be the cause.
