Location of the municipality of Wenzendorf in the Harburg district | ||
Wenzendorf is a municipality in the district of Harburg in Lower Saxony . Since July 1, 1972, the municipality has been one of seven member municipalities of the joint municipality of Hollenstedt . It consists of the towns of Wenzendorf, Wennerstorf, Klauenburg, Dierstorf and Dierstorf-Heide.
geography
Geographical location
The municipality of Wenzendorf is located about 30 km southwest of Hamburg in the eastern border area of the joint municipality of Hollenstedt. The Este runs along the municipal boundary west of Dierstorf. In terms of nature, Wenzendorf is located on the southwestern edge of the Black Mountains at the transition to the Apenser Lehmgeest .
Community structure
The municipality of Wenzendorf consists of the localities Dierstorf, Dierstorf-Heide, Klauenburg, Wennerstorf and Wenzendorf.
Dierstorf
Dierstorf is a small district with around 115 households. There is a kindergarten in the village; in the last few years mainly young families have settled here. The Arpshof organic farm is located in Dierstorf .
Wennerstorf
Numerous thatched roof houses have been preserved in Wennerstorf. A cobblestone street leads into town from the north, which for centuries was the only fixed traffic connection.
The Smeds Hoff - also known as Museum Farm Wennerstorf - is a typical regional historical Heidehof, the buildings (main house, sheepfold, bakery, pigsty and a Göpel barn) are almost all preserved as they were common in northern Lower Saxony. The courtyard is a branch of the open-air museum on the Kiekeberg and with the large Low German hall house from the 16th century, set up as a courtyard museum, gives insights into the history of the court and locality. Since 1997 vegetables with the Bioland seal have been grown in cooperation with Lebenshilfe Lüneburg-Harburg GmbH on the areas around the listed courtyard of the museum farm. The old Ramelsloh orchard has also been managed by employees of the Smeds Hoff since 2003, which means that old regional apple varieties can be preserved. These Bioland products can be purchased in the Hökerladen, the corner shop in the 1930s style. The fact that the building stock worth preserving is preserved on site and made accessible to the public means that the open-air museum on the Kiekeberg is taking an innovative approach; the farm is managed by disabled and non-disabled people in an inclusive way.
The Wenzendorf large stone grave lies north of Wennerstorf .
history
From 1934 to 1945, the Wenzendorf plant of Hamburger Flugzeugbau GmbH, a subsidiary of Blohm & Voss, was south of the village . Wenzendorf is the largest Christmas tree production facility in Northern Germany.

coat of arms
- Blazon : split by red and silver. Two silver plowshares on the right, a black aircraft propeller on the left.
- Reasons for the coat of arms: The ploughshares indicate the importance of agriculture for the community since ancient times . The propeller is reminiscent of the construction of aircraft during the Second World War.
Economy and Infrastructure
traffic
The community is conveniently located on the supraregional road connections Autobahn A1 (junction Hollenstedt and Rade), as well as on the federal highways B3 in the eastern municipality area and the B75 south of the municipality.
In the area of the municipality of Wenzendorf there is no longer any railway connection. The Buchholz-Bremervörde railway line (at the time the closest railway stations in Drestedt and Hollenstedt) was shut down in 1968 and replaced by a bus service (operator is now the KVG Stade ; the bus service is part of the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund (HVV)), but unlike the railways drives directly through Wenzendorf and Dierstorf. Wennerstorf and Dierstorf-Heide are also connected to the transport network with several stops, but this is a school bus service that is only offered during school days. Wenzendorf or parts of the municipality of Wenzendorf are approached by KVG lines 4037, 4038 and 4039. There are also several company and school-related regular services.
All bus routes only run on working days, the school bus routes only on school days.
For the first time in 2011, locations within the municipality of Wenzendorf were served by the “Regionalpark-Shuttle Ring 2” service on Sundays, public holidays and Saturdays. This free bus service with the option of taking bicycles with you is primarily used for excursions and is only offered in the summer months (2011: July 16 to October 16).
Since in the remaining 9 months of the year Wenzendorf and its districts can neither be reached nor exited by public transport on Sundays and public holidays, a visit to Wenzendorf and the places belonging to the community on Sundays and public holidays is almost exclusively based on private transport by car limited.
Wenzendorf has one of the smallest roundabouts in Germany with a diameter of approx. 7 m.
The listed road between Wennerstorf and Dierstorf-Heide, Wennerstorfer Kirchweg , was reconstructed in 2009. The pavement is a cobblestone that was a common road construction material in the past. In the course of the reconstruction, the paving was added to the intersection of Wennerstorfer Kirchweg / Amselweg (Dierstorf-Heide).
Logistics center
A logistics center has been built on the northeastern edge of the municipality of Wenzendorf. A citizens' initiative of the town of Wennerstorf, which is closest to this property, is critical of the development.
Airfield
About 2 km south of the village is the Wenzendorf glider airfield on the former site of the Wenzendorf plant .
