history
The name Toppenstedt is derived from the heraldic tree of the "Toppe", which is synonymous with oak. Since the region in which Toppenstedt was founded was littered with many small oak forests, the village was given this name. In 1930 the Tangendorf disc fibula was found near a Bronze Age burial mound near Tangendorf . It was one of the most magnificent fibulae from the Roman Empire in Northern Germany and became the symbol of the community's coat of arms in 2002.
