Vierhöfen (Low German: Veerhöben) is a municipality in the Harburg district in Lower Saxony .

Geographical location

Vierhöfen is located on the eastern edge of the Lüneburg Heath nature reserve . The community belongs to the joint municipality of Salzhausen , which has its administrative seat in the municipality of Salzhausen .

The honorary mayor Eberhard Leopold was elected on November 22, 2016. He resigned on February 25, 2019. The incumbent mayor is Mortimer Schmiedebach.

Buildings

The village community center forms the center of village life, events take place here (e.g. carnival celebrations and Advent exhibitions) and the premises (hall, club room, bar, kitchen) can be rented for private celebrations and events. The sports club (SC Vierhöfen) plays badminton, table tennis and organizes children's gymnastics there, changing rooms and showers are available. In addition, the volunteer fire brigade with the fire station is located in the building .

It is approx. 12 km to the A 7 and A 39 motorways in the west and east of the municipality.

The poor accessibility of Vierhöfen by public transport improved somewhat in December 2011. There is now a bus connection to and from Winsen (Luhe) with a connection to the metronom railway company . There is also a daily connection to and from Lüneburg and the school bus connections to Salzhausen and Winsen (Luhe) during school hours.

In the telecommunications sector , VDSL has been available across the board in Vierhöfen since mid-2011 . The fiber optic cables required for this were laid by EWE Tel 2011.
