Rosengarten Regional Park

The Regional Park Rose Garden is a transnational Regional Park on the territory of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and adjacent municipalities of the country Lower Saxony .

The Regional Park Rosengarten eV was founded in 2008 by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the District Office Hamburg-Harburg , the Harburg district (Lower Saxony), the city of Buchholz in the Nordheide , the Rosengarten community , the Neu Wulmstorf community and the Hollenstedt community ( including 6 member communities) the Black Mountains Wildlife Park and the open-air museum on the Kiekeberg were founded. The area thus includes the Harburg mountains and the neighboring communities. The Seevetal community is now also a member.

The regional park was created as an ILE region with an integrated rural development concept (ILEK) with the participation of local actors (residents, clubs and associations, companies and authorities) against the background of the EU funding period 2007-2013.

A regional park management was set up by the sponsoring association to realize the goals. According to the statutes, the association pursues the following goals:

  • increase the quality of local recreation, life and location,
  • Preserve, develop and value nature and landscape,
  • support regional development,
  • promote regional identity,
  • Connect the city and the surrounding area, work together across municipal, sectoral and national borders,
  • profile the regional park as an innovative and family-friendly premium region,
  • cultural heritage, monument protection and preservation,
  • Home care and local history.
