The Black Mountains Wildlife Park is a wildlife park in the municipality of Rosengarten in northern Lower Saxony . The park, which was founded in 1969 and is open all year round, is located in a forest area in the Harburg Mountains , south of the Hausbruch district of Hamburg , near Rosengarten-Vahrendorf and is 50 hectares in size.

Around a hundred animal species with around a thousand animals are shown in spacious, natural enclosures; including bison , European wolves , lynx and elk . European brown bears have also made their home there since 2009 . Free-range dwarf goats , pot - bellied pigs and fallow deer live in petting zoos .

From the 45 m high Elbe view tower on the site you can see the Elbe , Blankenese , Cranz , the entire port of Hamburg and the Hamburg-Lohbrügge telecommunications tower when the visibility is good .

There are regular guided tours in the park. In addition, the nature experience center in the Black Mountains Wildlife Park e. V. offers various motto days during the school holidays.
