Hanseatic boat
The Hanseboot ( proper spelling hanseboot ) was an international boat fair in Hamburg . The fair took place annually from 1961 to 2017 at the end of October on the Hamburg exhibition grounds and was considered a universal exhibition for sailing and motor boats as well as surfing and diving accessories. The organizer was Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH.
history
On January 12, 1961, the 1st Federal Specialized Exhibition - The Sport and Utility Boat opened its doors in the Planten un Blomen park in Hamburg. It had 5000 visitors who could see and buy products from 65 exhibitors in one hall. Due to the change of date from spring to autumn, the trade fair took place twice in 1971. In 1985 the Hamburg boat exhibition was given the new name Hanseboot and a new logo. In 1991 it got its own port in the center of the Hanseatic city on Baumall .
In 2013 the 54th Hanseboot took place from October 26th to November 3rd. A total of 525 exhibitors presented their products and applications on 23,307 square meters of net exhibition space. 74,890 visitors came over the nine days of the fair, around 3,500 of them from abroad.
In 2016, a total of 522 exhibitors exhibited at the 57th Hanseboot from October 29th to November 6th on 23,624 m² of net exhibition space. 62,821 visitors took part, around 2,000 of them from abroad.
In 2017, the 58th edition of the Hanseboot took place for the last time from October 28th to November 5th. Due to a lack of interest and falling exhibitor numbers, the organizer saw no economic basis for the future of the fair. The original offshoot, hanseboot ancora boat show in Neustadt in Holstein in spring, will be retained under a changed name.
The German Boat and Shipbuilders Association (DBSV) started the Hamburg Boat Show in 2018 as an attempt to continue the tradition of a North German ship fair at the same location.
