history

The place was first mentioned in 1325 as Niderhusen .

At that time, Niederhausen was part of the bailiwick property of the imperial abbey of St. Maximin in Trier , which was administered by the wild counts , and whose local branch was the provost office in Münsterappel. In the course of the Reformation Niederhausen became Lutheran in 1555, the provost's office was dissolved, and the abbey lost its influence. The place now belonged to the territory of the Rheingrafen , which the Wildgraves had in the meantime inherited from their line after the extinction. In 1775 Niederhausen fell to Nassau-Weilburg as part of an exchange agreement , which means that it now belonged to the Alsenz office.

The old order was ended from 1792 by French revolutionary troops and the Palatinate was annexed by France. From 1798 to 1814 Niederhausen belonged to the Donnersberg department , Kaiserslautern arrondissement , canton Obermoschel . At the Congress of Vienna , the Palatinate on the left bank of the Rhine fell to Austria in 1815 and to the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1816 on the basis of an exchange contract . The place has now been assigned to the Land Commissioner Kirchheim in the Bavarian Rhine District.

After the Second World War , Niederhausen became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone . Initially, the place still belonged to the district of Rockenhausen (formed in 1900 as a district office, renamed the district in 1939), in the course of the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform from 1969 to the newly formed Donnersbergkreis . Within the district, Niederhausen and 15 other municipalities formed the Verbandsgemeinde Alsenz-Obermoschel in 1972 , which became the Verbandsgemeinde Nordpfälzer Land on January 1, 2020 .
