coat of arms
Blazon : "Diagonally divided by red and silver, top left a six-spoke silver wheel, bottom right a red doe pierced by a red arrow." | |
Justification for the coat of arms: The wheel refers to the Lords of Bolanden , who originally owned the local authority; the hind on Saint Aegidius , one of the fourteen helpers in need , to whom a chapel in the town was consecrated before the destruction.
The coat of arms was approved by the Neustadt district government in 1976 . |
Economy and Infrastructure
As is typical for similar villages, the place was dominated by farms until the 1960s; today commuters dominate in economic terms. There are two new development areas that were developed around 1980 and 2005 respectively. In the original town center there are several houses and former agricultural properties that have been renovated by both locals and newcomers.
The former elementary school , which operated until 1960, has been completely renovated and considerably expanded; since 1978 it has served as a village community center for various purposes. Bennhausen has a volunteer fire brigade including youth fire brigade , a community development association organizes cultural events, festivals and the fair (3rd weekend in August).
The L 397 runs through the village . In about 3 km to the south-east there is a connection to the A 63 ( Kaiserslautern - Mainz ) at the Göllheim exit . It is around 30 km to Kaiserslautern in a south-westerly direction and around 50 km to Mainz in the north. A disused railway line runs through the town of Dreisen , 4 km away , which is only served by the Zellertal Railway in the summer months on weekends . The nearest regular train stations are in Kirchheimbolanden with connections to Alzey and Mainz, as well as in Winnweiler with connections to Kaiserslautern and Bad Kreuznach .
In the competition of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate "Our village has a future" in 2017 in the regional decision for the Neustadt / Weinstr. 3rd place in the main group.
