history

In 1331, Dannenfels was declared a city on the initiative of Count Philipp von Sponheim-Bolanden. Even the son of this count, Heinrich II von Sponheim-Bolanden , moved his residence to Kirchheimbolanden around 1370 . After his death (1393), her granddaughter's husband, Count Philip I of Nassau-Saarbrücken, inherited the rule of Kirchheim and Stauf through his granddaughter . That is why the Nassau lion is on the town's coat of arms.

Until the end of the 18th century, the community then belonged to Nassau-Weilburg and was subordinate to the Oberamt Kirchheim .

In 1794 the left bank of the Rhine was occupied in the First Coalition War. From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , Mörsfeld was incorporated into the canton of Kirchheim in the Donnersberg department and was the seat of its own Mairie . In 1815 it was added to Austria . Just one year later, the place, like the entire Palatinate, changed to the Kingdom of Bavaria . From 1818 to 1862 Ramsen was part of the Kirchheim Land Commissioner - later Kirchhheimbolanden ; from this the district office of Kirchhheimbolanden emerged.

On June 11, 1922, Fritz Heß became mayor of the community and thus probably the first National Socialist mayor in Germany.

From 1939 the place was part of the Kirchheimbolanden district . After the Second World War , Dannenfels became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone . In the course of the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform , Dannenfels moved to the newly formed Donnersbergkreis in 1969 ; three years later, the community was incorporated into the also newly created community of Kirchheimbolanden .
