Bastenhaus is a hamlet that belongs to the Dannenfels municipality in the Donnersbergkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . The name goes back to a charcoal burner named Sebastian ("Bastian") Fischer who settled there in the 17th century.

Geographical location

Bastenhaus is located within the North Palatinate Bergland in the natural area of ​​the Donnersberg massif . It is located 2.1 km northwest of the core town of Dannenfels and 2.4 km east-northeast of the Rockenhausen district of Marienthal  - in the saddle between the Donnersberg ( 686.5  m ) in the south and the Eichelberg (approx.  500  m ) in the north-northwest at around 460  m above sea level NHN .

To the east of Bastenhaus flows the small Eschbach, whose water reaches the Appelbach through the Mordkammertalbach (Mordkammerbach) , and to the west the small Königsbach, whose water flows through the Gerbach (Dörrbach) to the Pfrimm ; both streams arise on the northern slope of the Donnersberg.

Infrastructure

Immediately south-west of Bastenhaus is the intersection of the  394 state road coming from Dannenfels with the L 386, which comes from Kirchheimbolanden in the north-east and runs to Marienthal, and the district road  82, which leads south-south-east to the Donnersberg high plateau. The Hotel-Restaurant Bastenhaus is located next to the intersection at 459.3  m . The place has a stop of a hiking bus line, whose buses go to this mountain plateau.
