Bastenhaus is a hamlet that belongs to the Dannenfels municipality in the Donnersbergkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . The name goes back to a charcoal burner named Sebastian ("Bastian") Fischer who settled there in the 17th century.
Geographical location
Bastenhaus is located within the North Palatinate Bergland in the natural area of the Donnersberg massif . It is located 2.1 km northwest of the core town of Dannenfels and 2.4 km east-northeast of the Rockenhausen district of Marienthal - in the saddle between the Donnersberg ( 686.5 m ) in the south and the Eichelberg (approx. 500 m ) in the north-northwest at around 460 m above sea level NHN .
To the east of Bastenhaus flows the small Eschbach, whose water reaches the Appelbach through the Mordkammertalbach (Mordkammerbach) , and to the west the small Königsbach, whose water flows through the Gerbach (Dörrbach) to the Pfrimm ; both streams arise on the northern slope of the Donnersberg.
Infrastructure
Immediately south-west of Bastenhaus is the intersection of the 394 state road coming from Dannenfels with the L 386, which comes from Kirchheimbolanden in the north-east and runs to Marienthal, and the district road 82, which leads south-south-east to the Donnersberg high plateau. The Hotel-Restaurant Bastenhaus is located next to the intersection at 459.3 m . The place has a stop of a hiking bus line, whose buses go to this mountain plateau.
