Moritz Anton Konerding (born April 22, 1960 in Essen ; † January 26, 2015 in Dannenfels ) was a German anatomist , scientist and professor in the Department of University Medicine at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU).

Life

Konerding received his doctorate in 1986 at the University of Essen with the subject of experimental studies on the vascularization of the axis organ . In 1993, now working as a private lecturer at the Essen Institute for Anatomy, he was appointed to the JGU.

Konerding conducted scientific research in the field of angiogenesis in tumors and tissue regeneration. He worked as a visiting professor in Judah Folkman 's laboratory at Children's Hospital in Boston . Worked in the field of lung regeneration with a partner group at Brigham and Women's Hospital , Harvard Medical School .

From 1993 to 1996 he and his working group established a collection of anatomical sections , which forms the basis for the development of the e-learning offer of the Institute for Functional and Clinical Anatomy "ELSa" (e-learning offer for the cut anatomy). Konerding advocated a clinically applied teaching concept with close links to the surgical disciplines.

Konerding was involved in the Advisory Board of the Angiogenesis Foundation in Cambridge.

Konerding was killed in a plane crash on Donnersberg . The wreck of his Piper PA-30 was found after a long search in impassable terrain in the district Am Ludwigsturm in Dannenfels .
