history

Göttingen University Newspaper

Against the background of the demand that members of the academic and university business should again interfere more in the social and political discourse, the Göttingen university newspaper "GUZ" was founded in 1945 by students and university lecturers. In autumn 1949 the “GUZ” became the German university newspaper “duz”.

German university newspaper

In 1950 the editorial team moved from Göttingen to Bonn-Bad Godesberg. The duz became increasingly a journal especially for scientists. In the 1950s, the magazine mainly reported on science-political issues and was at times the official newsletter of the German Research Foundation (DFG). In 1964 Josef Raabe bought duz and from then on headed the editorial department. Josef Raabe had already founded the university service "HD" in 1948 and supplied it to universities, ministries, administrations, associations and publishers. In 1969 the duz merged with the HD. The new magazine was now published every 14 days. In 1979 Josef Raabe sold duz to Ernst Klett Verlag . In the 80s, duz became part of a science publisher within the RAABE publishing group , which in turn belongs to the Klett group . In 2000 the headquarters of the editorial office was relocated to Berlin.

Since January 2016, duz has been appearing under the umbrella of DUZ Verlags- und Medienhaus GmbH - a new publishing house that emerged from the Berlin branch of Dr. Josef Raabe Verlags-GmbH emerged and continues the specialist media of the predecessor publisher in the fields of universities, science, health and culture.
