The Angiogenesis Foundation

The Angiogenesis Foundation is a US non-profit organization founded in Cambridge in 1994 to study angiogenesis. The founders were former students of Judah Folkman , a pioneer in angiogenesis research .

The foundation focuses on treatments in the areas of cancer , cardiology , wound healing , dermatology and ophthalmology .

In 1998, the foundation led the creation of angiogenic growth factor therapy as the first advanced treatment for diabetic foot ulcers. In 2004, she helped expand the first antiangiogenic therapy for cancer, bevacizumab , starting with colon cancer and later to breast , lung , liver , kidney and brain tumor types.

In 2010, Angiogenesis Foundation President and Co-Founder William Li gave a high profile presentation at the TED Conference on Cancer Prevention Through Anti-Angiogenic Diet.

The rock group U2 supports the foundation's work. Her guitarist The Edge is a member of the foundation's advisory body and is involved in the Eat to Beat Cancer campaign for research into disease prevention through food.

Other prominent supporters are Cindy Crawford , Peter Gabriel , Scott Hamilton and Roger Moore .
