Weitersweiler is a municipality in the Donnersbergkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Göllheim community .
geography
The municipality through which the Häferbach flows is located north of the Palatinate Forest Nature Park and east of the Donnersberg , between Kaiserslautern and Worms . Bennhausen is in the northwest , Jakobsweiler in the west and Dreisen in the southeast . 81% of the district area is used for agriculture.
history
From 1410 to 1792 Weitersweiler was divided by the Häferbach as a border. The northern part belonged mainly to the rule Wambold von Umstadt . The part south of the Häferbach was last under the rule of the princes of Nassau-Weilburg .

The municipal council in Weitersweiler consists of twelve council members, who were elected in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote, and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

The local mayor is Thomas Busch. In the local elections on May 26, 2019, he was elected with 80.69% of the vote. He is the successor to Armin Göbel, who no longer ran.

Culture and sights
- The West Palatinate hiking trail and two hiking trails run by the Palatinate Forest Association lead across the Weitersweiler area .
- The Jewish cemetery east of Weitersweiler is a protected cultural monument . 21 tombstones from the period from 1772 to 1917 have been preserved.
- In the Catholic parish church of St. Bartholomew, built between 1876 and 1880, which characterizes the townscape, Protestant services are also held regularly.
