The Aetna, Inc. is a provider of health services for workers in the United States . Aetna is a direct successor to the Aetna Insurance Company from Hartford , Connecticut . The company is listed in the S&P 500 share index.

In 1850, the company issued the first life insurance policy . This happened thirty years after the company was founded.

Divisions

Aetna also has a notable presence in home insurance, casualty insurance and the security bond market. Canceling and dissolving insurance is legally and contractually difficult, but health insurance service providers are trying to find ways out of the regulations.

Corporate structure

The company has radically restructured its structure by selling its finance division to the Dutch insurer ING Groep . Aetna has thus become a pure health insurance insurer. The company offers pension benefits, dental, medication, future and group insurance .
