Winterborn is a municipality in the Donnersbergkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Nordpfälzer Land , which has its administrative headquarters in the municipality of Rockenhausen and an additional administrative office in Alsenz .

geography

Winterborn is located in the North Palatinate Bergland north of the Palatinate Forest . Niederhausen an der Appel is to the northeast , Münsterappel to the southeast and Kalkofen is to the southwest . The Waldhof residential area also belongs to Winterborn .

history

Winterborn has existed since the 10th century. In a document from the 13th century it was called Winterbur . During the phase of the tribal duchies the place belonged to the Duchy of Franconia .
