Geographical location

The place is in the North Palatinate Uplands not far from the Donnersberg in the sub-area Westliche Donnersbergrandhöhen between Kaiserslautern and Bad Kreuznach on the southwestern edge of the Bürgerwald . At 498.5  m above sea level NHN , Ruppertsecken is the highest independent village in the Palatinate .

Ruppertsecken was in 1401 in a document from King Ruprecht - at the same time Elector Ruprecht III. von der Pfalz - mentioned for the first time. Until the end of the 18th century the place belonged to the Electoral Palatinate and was subordinate to the Oberamt Alzey .

After the French Revolution , the place was incorporated into the French Donnersberg department and the canton of Kirchheim in 1798 . There he was subordinate to Mairie Gerbach . In 1815 Ruppertsecken had 410 inhabitants. As a result of the Congress of Vienna , the place came to Austria in the same year and from 1816 belonged to Bavaria . In 1817 the community moved to the canton of Rockenhausen . From 1818 to 1862 Ruppertsecken was part of the Kirchheim Land Commissioner , which was then converted into a district office. On December 1, 1900, the community moved to the newly created district office Rockenhausen

From 1939 the place was part of the district of Rockenhausen . After the Second World War , Gerbach was part of the French zone of occupation and was incorporated into the newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate in 1946. In the course of the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform , the community moved to the newly created Donnersbergkreis. In 1972 it was added to the newly formed community of Rockenhausen . Ruppertsecken has been part of the Nordpfälzer Land association since 2020 .
