Upper Palatinate Office, 4 = Upper Office Alzey
Description of the Oberamt Alzey, in Volume 3 by Johann Goswin Widder's attempt to provide a complete geographic-historical description of the Electoral Palatinate on the Rhine

The Oberamt Alzey was one of 19 Palatine administrative and judicial districts in today's Rheinhessen . It existed until the end of the 18th century.

geography

The main part extended over the area of today's Rheinhessen to the North Palatinate or the northern Front Palatinate . Subordinate administrative units within this upper office were the subordinate offices of Erbes-Büdesheim and Freinsheim . The Oberamt Alzey bordered (clockwise) on the Oberamt Oppenheim , the Rhine , Worms , the Oberamt Neustadt , Leiningen Westerburg , the offices Kirchheim and Stauf ( Nassau-Weilburg ), and in the north-west on individual parts of Nassau-Usingen , the Rheingrafen and Kur-Mainz .

In 1787 the regional historian Johann Goswin Widder wrote in his attempt at a complete geographical-historical description of the Electoral Palatinate on the Rheine (Volume 3) that the Oberamt Alzey had so many advantages "that it can, however, be considered the first in the entire Palatinate" .
