Rodenbach , formerly an independent municipality, is now a district of the local community Ebertsheim , which belongs to the community of Leiningerland in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Bad Dürkheim . There is a local community in the West Palatinate , which is also called Rodenbach .

Geographical location

The district, 500 m north of the main town of Ebertsheim, is located in the northeastern foothills of the Palatinate Forest in the Leiningerland . It is embedded in a north-facing and hardly noticeably rising side valley of the Eisbach at the eponymous Rodenbach , which flows into the Eisbach from the left in Ebertsheim .

history

Historians derive the place name from "Bach des Rodo". Rodo (Roderich or Rodobert) is a Frankish proper name and indicates a landowner who had water rights there.

The settlement was first listed in the Lorsch Codex in 770 . In 976, extensive royal property in Rodenbach was given to his vassal Giso or Biso by Emperor Otto II . The village was later one of the estates of the Hochstift Worms , then became Liningian and in 1467 became the property of the Electoral Palatinate . Until the end of the 18th century, the place belonged to the Palatinate Oberamt Alzey and within this to the Amt Freinsheim .

After 1792 French revolutionary troops occupied the region and in the Peace of Campo Formio (1797) it was annexed by France . From 1798 to 1814 Rodenbach belonged to the French department of Donnersberg . Unlike the neighboring Ebertsheim, it was assigned to the canton of Göllheim and was subordinate to the Mairie Kertzenheim . In 1815 the place had 191 inhabitants. According to the agreements of the Congress of Vienna (1815) and an exchange treaty with Austria , the region came to the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1816 after a year-long Austrian interlude . From 1818 the municipality of Rodenbach was assigned to the Kirchheim Land Commissioner in the Bavarian Rhine District, later to the Kirchheimbolanden District Office.

In 1928 the place had 244 inhabitants who lived in 46 residential buildings. At the time, the Catholics belonged to the parish of Boßweiler , the Protestants to that of Kerzenheim. From 1939 the place was part of the Kirchheimbolanden district . After the Second World War , Rodenbach became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone and belonged to the administrative district of Palatinate .

In the course of the first administrative reform in Rhineland-Palatinate , the previously independent municipality, which at that time had 271 inhabitants, was incorporated into the newly created Bad Dürkheim district and the larger neighboring municipality of Ebertsheim on June 7, 1969 . This in turn was assigned to the Verbandsgemeinde Grünstadt-Land in 1972, which became part of the Verbandsgemeinde Leiningerland on January 1, 2018.

After many years of efforts, Rodenbach received the status of a local district in 2006 .
