Location of the association in the Bad Dürkheim district

The Verbandsgemeinde Grünstadt-Land was an administrative unit in the legal form of a regional authority in the Bad Dürkheim district ( Rhineland-Palatinate ). The association community consisted of 16 independent local communities , the administrative seat was in the eponymous association-free city of Grünstadt . This was in the middle of the Verbandsgemeinde, without being a part of it.

On January 1, 2018, the community of Grünstadt-Land was dissolved, the associated communities were assigned to the new community of Leiningerland .

Geographical location

The administrative area of the Verbandsgemeinde was in the northeast of the Palatinate ( Vorderpfalz ). It stretched from the north-eastern Palatinate Forest in the west over the northern part of the German Wine Route near Grünstadt, which runs in the hilly country of the Palatinate wine-growing region , to Dirmstein in the east, where the vineyards merge into the Upper Rhine Plain .

geology

The Verbandsgemeinde contributed to three types of landscape: low mountain range , rift valley and lowland . The mountain part - the Palatinate Forest and its edges Haardt and Leininger Sporn - consists mainly of red sandstone , the flat areas are covered by young fluvial sediments. The enormous subsidence zone of the Upper Rhine Graben cannot be seen on the surface of the earth - except at the edge of the grave near Battenberg and Bobenheim - but it can be geophysically proven to a depth of around 20 km.

history

The community of Grünstadt-Land, together with the city of Grünstadt and the community of Hettenleidelheim, formed the largest part of the historical Leiningerland . The Verbandsgemeinde was formed on the basis of the Thirteenth State Law on Administrative Simplification in the State of Rhineland-Palatinate of March 1, 1972, which came into force on April 22, 1972. Until then, the administrative structures from the Palatinate (1816–1946) existed. During the administrative reform of 1972, the local congregations retained their political independence.

On February 24, 2016, the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament passed a law in its last plenary session before the state elections, according to which the municipalities of Grünstadt-Land and Hettenleidelheim can merge with effect from January 1, 2018 to form the new municipality of Leiningerland .

The coat of arms created in 1973 is divided or split into four segments. Three of them provide information about the regional rulership from the Middle Ages to the present: on the top right on a blue background, a silver eagle with red reinforcement , turned to the right, symbolizes the noble family of Leiningen , on the top left stands on a black background, turned to the right and also reinforced in red, the golden lion of Pfalz (without the Kurkrone ) as a symbol of belonging to Bezirksverband Pfalz , lower right diagonally on a black background, with the tip pointing up to the right, the silver key of bishopric Worms . At the bottom left on a blue background, today's main line of business is coded together with the geographical location of the municipality and its structure: A golden bunch of grapes with two leaves and 16 berries indicates that the municipality is located in the two fertile floodplains of Eckbach and Eisbach and 16  viticulture operating municipalities.
