The Rodenbach is a 10 km long brook and a left tributary of the Eisbach in the north-eastern Palatinate Forest ( Rhineland-Palatinate ).

course

The Rodenbach rises at about 320  m above sea level. NHN to the west of the hamlet of Rosenthalerhof, which belongs to the local community Kerzenheim . After about 500 m it is dammed up to the Rosenthaler Weiher , a so-called woog , which has a diameter of 50 m. The Rodenbach passes the Kerzenheimer Steinäckersiedlung and mainly flows in a north-easterly direction to the right parallel to the county road  78. In the valley between Kerzenheim in the north and the small town of Eisenberg in the south, it first crosses the old and then the new federal road 47 (Eisenberg– Dreisen ) and from the west then turns more to the east.

To the east of Kerzenheim, the Rodenbach takes its strongest tributary from the left, the three km long Kerzenheimer Bach . Then he passes  under the state roads 452 and 448 one after the other , the latter already in the Ebertsheim district of Rodenbach , which owes its name to it. There the brook turns south and passes under the state road 395 ( Grünstadt - Enkenbach-Alsenborn ) on the eastern edge of Ebertsheim . 50 m further on , it joins the Eisbach from the left at a height of around 160  m . 250 m below on the same side of the Eisbach is the mouth of the Quirnheimer Bach , just above opposite that of the Seltenbach .

history

Historians derive the name, which probably originated in the 8th century, from "Bach des Rodo". Rodo is a Frankish proper name and indicates a landowner who had water rights to the stream. The Kronenmühle used to be operated southeast of Rodenbach, a little below the bend in the creek to the south . A street name still reminds of them today.
